Sandals St. Lucia diving - enjoy distinctive feeling
For guests who are not certified or would like to scuba for the first time, there is a resort course (a fee of US$70.00 applies to guests who require the resort course). To qualify you must pass a water skill check, meet medical requirements and fill out a liability release. After completing the course, guests will be allowed one tank dive (of approx. 30ft) per day. The resort course is valid for one year at any Sandals or Beaches Resorts. Whether you are a certified diver or not, you must meet medical requirements before diving. If you have a medical condition that is outlined on the form, you must have a doctor sign off on it and bring it to the resort. However, the dive instructors at the resorts have the final approval on whether or not a guest is considered fit to dive. Certified divers are allowed one two-tank dive or two single dives a day. There's no diving on day of departure. All the dives range from 20 to 90 feet. If you are a certified diver and the instructor feels you need to take a refresher course, there will be an additional $50.00 per person for the 1.5 hour course. As per PADI standards this will allow you to dive as a certified diver. When scuba aficionados select the choicest dive locations, the Caribbean consistently makes the cut. The area is blessed with excellent underwater visibility, warm water temperatures and an abundance of marine life and dive sites that appeal to both beginners and seasoned divers. Most impressive is the wide range of treasures to be found: wondrous shipwrecks, dramatic drop-off wall sites, drift dives galore, underwater cave adventures, shore and boat diving. On the conservation side, the Caribbean is devoted to the preservation of the underwater environment. It has a host of protected marine parks with thriving aquatic life. indeed, the area offers the most varied examples of tropical marine life imaginable, including anglefish, barracuda, crabs, dancing eels, goat fish, grouper, lobster, octopus, parrot fish, seahorses, sea turtles, sharks, snappers, spiny puffers, and stingrays.
